13476 (2024). Shanan Halbert to the Minister for Mental Health: Is the Minister aware of research that says trans and non-binary people are at a risk nine times higher than the general population of suffering from high or very high psychological distress; if so, what plans, if any, does he have to increase access to mental health services for trans and non-binary people?

Hon Matt Doocey: I am not aware of the specific research the member is refering to. I am advised that Health New Zealand is continuing to fund a range of services, including Rainbow Youth Peer Support and Rainbow Competency Training, across New Zealand to improve mental health outcomes for rainbow communities.
