13475 (2024). Shanan Halbert to the Minister for the Prevention of Family and Sexual Violence: Is the Minister aware of research that shows 32% of trans and non-binary youth report being victims of sexual violence from the age of 13 onwards; if so, what plans, if any, does he have to protect trans and non-binary youth from sexual violence?

Hon Karen Chhour: Yes, I am aware of the impacts of sexual violence on trans and non-binary youth. I am advised that Te Puna Aonui agencies have worked with and provided funding to Rainbow Violence Prevention Network, Gender Minorities Aotearoa, OutLine, RespectEd and Hohou Te Rongo Kahukura, through the development of Te Aorerekura, and the Family Violence workforce frameworks. I am also advised that NZ Police have developed a resource for rainbow community needing help from NZ Police with Hohou Te Rongo Kahukura.
