13382 (2026). Hon Willow-Jean Prime to the Minister for Social Development and Employment: What, if any, engagement has the Ministry of Social Development and Employment had with the employer or workers associated with the job losses due to the closure of Juken New Zealand mills, listed by date?

Hon Louise Upston: I am advised by the Ministry of Social Development (MSD) that MSD met with Juken New Zealand Limited (JNL) representatives on 1st April to offer supports directly. Because JNL are currently focused on the potential sale of the mills, supports have not yet been offered to staff as job losses may yet be avoided through sale of the mills. Further engagements are planned as decisions are made around the future of the mills and how this might impact staff.
