13356 (2026). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister of Statistics: Will the Minister consider an expert independent review of census proposals, to inform discussion through the select committee stage of the Data and Statistics (Census) Amendment Bill?

Hon Scott Simpson: I am advised that Stats NZ engaged independent expert advice leading up to the decision to move to an admin data-first census, and the direction forward has been agreed by Cabinet.
