13251 (2024). Hon Julie Anne Genter to the Minister of Conservation: What consultation, if any, has been done with the Chatham Islands Conservation Board on the District Change Proposal on Department of Conservation staff restructures; and what, if any, were their views?

Hon Tama Potaka: The Department of Conservation advises that how it organises its work force to deliver the best possible conservation outcomes within the available resources is an internal matter. The proposed change in operational delivery model for the Chatham Islands has therefore only been formally consulted on with the affected teams and individuals. Once the change proposal was delivered to the affected teams, the key purpose of the change and the proposed approach to be taken was shared with the Conservation Board chair and two board members. The board has been encouraged to share their thoughts on opportunities or areas for improvement in the way the Department works with them to improve the delivery of conservation outcomes.
