Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: Why did the Minister say that there are ‘far more pressing issues in the health sector that need addressing at the moment’ regarding implementing the recommendations in the Public Health Advisory Committee report ‘rebalancing our food system’?

Hon Dr Shane Reti: Because there are far more pressing issues in the health sector that need addressing following years of mismanagement. That is why the Government introduced five key targets to stop the system from going backwards. We will focus on faster cancer treatment, improving immunisation rates, shorter stays in ED, shorter wait times for first specialist assessments, and shorter times for elective treatment.
