13167 (2024). Hon Rachel Brooking to the Minister responsible for RMA Reform: Given the Ministry for the Environment's advice of 15 February 2024 that "Progressing an act with spatial planning requirements is the most effective way to integrate planning and investment and provide the certainty and confidence needed for delivery of housing, transport, infrastructure, and other development," will the Minister progress a spatial planning act or not?
Hon Chris Bishop: This Government was elected with a manifesto that included repealing the Natural and Built Environment Act and the Spatial Planning Act within our first 100 days in office. We have delivered on that promise. We are now working on a new package of resource management legislation (including spatial planning options) that will protect the environment and make it easier to get things done in New Zealand.
