13102 (2025). Camilla Belich to the Minister of Conservation: What is the total expenditure, if any, on domestic and international travel by any agencies under the Minister’s responsibility since 27 November 2023, broken down by agency, purpose, and destination?

Hon Tama Potaka: The Department of Conservation is an operational agency that maintains a nationwide network of huts, tracks, and other assets that necessitates travel around New Zealand for its staff, including to some of our country’s most remote locations. DOC staff also travel to do their vital work to protect our taonga species and ecosystems and respond to the impacts of events such as natural disasters. I am advised that the Department of Conservation spent $2.268m from 27 November 2023 to 28 February 2025 on domestic and international travel, broken down by purpose and destination in the attached tables.
