13094 (2024). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health
Written Question

13094 (2024). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: What progress, if any, has been made in the quarter October to December 2023 in achieving the overarching measure ‘The development of a fully functioning sustainable immunisation system that protects tamariki from the effects of epidemic and immunisation-preventable disease’ within the ‘Initial Priorities for the National Immunisation Programme in Aotearoa 2022’?
Hon Dr Shane Reti: I am advised that in the October - December 2023 quarter, several initiatives were progressed, including:
• Replacing the National Immunisation Register with the Aotearoa Immunisation Register, which is linked to an electronic newborn enrolment system to reduce manual processes. Consumers are now also able to view their and their children’s vaccination status on a portal, My Health Record.
• A new customer relationship management tool, Whaihu, was enabled to manage newborn enrolment in primary care. Users are able to create and follow up on newborn nominations and allows them to support newborns to access immunisation services.
I also refer the Member to my responses to Written Parliamentary Question 13086 (2024) and 13093 (2024).
