13062 (2024). Lemauga Lydia Sosene to the Minister for Social Development and Employment: What evidence, if any, has the Minster seen to suggest that the compulsory work seminar after a fortnight will lead to 50,000 fewer people on the jobseeker benefit?

Hon Louise Upston: I regularly request and receive advice on a range of topics. In the interest of transparency, a list of reports received by my office from the Ministry of Social Development is regularly published on the Ministry of Social Development website. Seminars are just one of many tools the Ministry uses to actively engage with job seekers and provide them opportunities to shift into work. It is a combination of activities, interventions, referrals to jobs, providers and services, as well as engagements with employers which lead to jobseekers shifting into work.
