12979 (2026). Arena Williams to the Minister of Commerce and Consumer Affairs: What policy initiatives, if any, is the Minister considering for consumers to address cost of living challenges?

Cameron Brewer: The Government has focused on addressing cost-of-living pressures in New Zealand, particularly through initiatives aimed at insurance affordability, fuel prices, and grocery competition. Open banking changes will also introduce greater competition for the banking sector and soon for the electricity sector.
