12907 (2026). Arena Williams to the Minister of Commerce and Consumer Affairs: Further to 59119, what advice, if any, does the Minister have for potentially affected families if they cannot afford the upfront cost of upwards of $3000 for testing an entire home for the presence of asbestos from consumer sand products?
Cameron Brewer: Families are encouraged to seek advice from qualified, accredited asbestos professionals about whether testing is necessary and, if so, what level of testing is appropriate. Under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993, consumers may also be entitled to compensation.
