12896 (2026). Hon Willie Jackson to the Minister of Health: As at 7 April 2026, what measurable changes, if any, have occurred in Māori life expectancy since the Minister took responsibility of the Health portfolio?

Hon Simeon Brown: My priority is to ensure all New Zealanders have access to timely and quality healthcare. I am advised that life expectancy data is a long-term measure published by StatsNZ. The latest data available is for the period 2022-2024, before I took responsibility for the Health portfolio. However, I refer the Member to 12913 (2026) for information on what I am doing to improve Maori health outcomes
