12893 (2024). Hon Ginny Andersen to the Minister for the Prevention of Family and Sexual Violence: Further to reply 7449 (2024); how does she intend to make improvements in the response system to family violence and sexual violence when it comes to service gaps?

Hon Karen Chhour: Officials are currently identifying a range of areas for improvements to the response system. Initial information gathering about response systems has been completed by Te Puna Aonui agencies’ officials, to build a more detailed understanding of the current state of local Family Violence multi-agency responses. The information gathered through this process, alongside the gaps analysis completed recently by the Ministry of Social Development, will inform a work programme that will determine how local and regional teams can be supported to strengthen responses to family and sexual violence, with a specific emphasis on ensuring local multi-agency crisis responses can meet the needs of their communities.
