12882 (2026). Debbie Ngarewa-Packer to the Minister of Health: What steps, if any, are being taken to ensure pay equity for midwives across all regions?

Hon Simeon Brown: I am advised that in 2023, Health New Zealand reached a national pay equity settlement with the Midwifery Employee Representation & Advisory Service and the New Zealand Nurses Organisation. This covered midwives employed by Health NZ in all regions. Subsequent collective bargaining outcomes have also been applied nationally, which maintains regional consistency.
