12833 (2025). Camilla Belich to the Minister of Internal Affairs: What is the total cost, if any, of any agency-organised conferences, workshops, and training events under the Minister’s responsibility since 27 November 2023, broken down by agency and event?

Hon Brooke van Velden: The Department of Internal Affairs: I am advised by the Department of Internal Affairs that since 27 November 2023, the total amount spent on conferences, workshops, and training events was $3.900 million. This excludes catering costs. I am advised that providing the member with a further breakdown of this information would require a substantial manual collation exercise and divert staff from their core duties. In accordance with Speaker’s ruling 210/6, I consider that the time, and hence the expense of answering the Member’s question is not in the public interest. Office of Film and Literature Classification (the Classification Office): I refer the member to the table attached at Appendix A. Fire and Emergency New Zealand (Fire and Emergency): I am advised that providing the member with this information would require a substantial manual collation exercise and divert staff from their core duties.
