Hon Ginny Andersen to the Minister for Tertiary Education: How many TEC funding panel decisions, if any, were reversed in the 2026 Investment Round and for each such decision, what was the name of the applicant, how much funding was approved by the panel and how much funding was ultimately approved?

Hon Penny Simmonds: I have been informed by the Tertiary Education Commission, the funding panel makes recommendations to the appropriate decision maker (being either the Deputy Chief Executive- Delivery, Chief Executive or the TEC Board). For the 2026 Investment Round decisions were made regarding 266 Tertiary Education Organisations (TEOs), of these 92 received either a proposed in-part or decline letter. Those TEOs had a 10-day Right of Response period. Of the 92 TEOs 65 engaged in the Right of Response process. Based on the responses the 31 TEOs detailed in the attached table had their funding allocation amended.
