12775 (2024). Hon Willow-Jean Prime to the Minister of Education: What intentions, if any, does the Minister have in relation to the redesign of Te Marautanga o Aotearoa?

Hon Erica Stanford: My intention for the redesigned Te Marautanga o Aotearoa is that it supports every student learning through te reo Māori to achieve educational excellence, and to be immersed and gain expertise in te reo Māori, tikanga Māori, mātauranga Māori, and te ao Māori. It will be a knowledge-rich curriculum that is clear and detailed about what to teach, when, and how, underpinned by ako (focuses on learning and teaching grounded in te ao Māori), and grounded in the science of learning.
