12669 (2026). Teanau Tuiono to the Prime Minister: What analysis, aides-mémoire, briefings, memos, notes, reports, or any other advice, if any, has the Minister or their office seen about New Zealand ratifying the High Seas Treaty by date and title?
Rt Hon Christopher Luxon: As Prime Minister, I regularly request and receive advice from officials on a range of matters relating to my Prime Minister portfolio, including from the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet (DPMC).
I have received advice from officials relating to the treaty for the conservation and sustainable use of marine biodiversity in areas beyond national jurisdiction.
In addition, staff in my office may informally receive documents, including draft documents, from my officials in DPMC and from other agencies, and from Ministers’ offices. This information is not held in a format that can be easily extracted within the time frame.
