12631 (2025). Camilla Belich to the Minister of Corrections

12631 (2025). Camilla Belich to the Minister of Corrections: What is the total amount, if any, spent on temporary accommodation for staff, contractors, or consultants by any agencies under the Minister’s responsibility since 27 November 2023, broken down by agency and purpose?
Hon Mark Mitchell: I am advised that Corrections employs around 10,000 staff in prisons and the community, with the overwhelming majority working on the frontline.
I refer the member to the attached table, which provides the amount Corrections spent on temporary accommodation for staff, contractors, or consultants between 27 November 2023 and 21 March 2025, including the purpose for the temporary accommodation. Temporary accommodation refers to all accommodation which Corrections pays for staff to stay in that is not for travel-related purposes (such as to attend a meeting or a work-related event) and excludes properties that Corrections leases on a long-term basis.
Due to temporary accommodation data being manually logged by staff, some costs may not have been coded in the categories supplied below. Extracting these costs would require us to manually assess each booking. Providing this information would amount to substantial collation and manual analysis, which I am not prepared to ask of my officials for the purposes of this response.
