12562 (2025). Hon Willow-Jean Prime to the Associate Minister of Education: How many, if any, school lunches were wasted during the week of March 10th 2025 and not subsequently returned to school lunch providers, expressed as an overall number?

Hon David Seymour: I am advised by the Ministry of Education that it has different models to deliver meals to schools. Internal schools and Iwi/Hapū meal providers manage their own waste, and this is reported at the end of each term. This information is not available currently. The Ministry of Education does not hold information around the number of meals not returned to meal providers.
