12468 (2024). Hon Barbara Edmonds to the Minister of Education: For each of the new policy initiatives in the Minister’s responsible Vote for Budget 2023, if any, how many, if any, Full Time Equivalents are currently working on these initiatives, broken down by individual initiative?
Hon Erica Stanford: I am advised by the Ministry of Education (the Ministry) that a wide range of initiatives were funded through Budget 2023. The publicly available Summary of Initiatives sets out the initiatives that were funded: https://www.treasury.govt.nz/sites/default/files/2023-05/b23-wellbeing-budget-soi.pdf. A detailed breakdown of FTE currently working on all individual initiatives is not able to be provided due to: • Some initiatives address cost pressures such as increased rates, and do not have FTE associated. • Some initiatives contribute to ongoing multi-year initiatives. FTE associated with each year of funding is not able to be extracted. • Initiatives are supported through a mix of FTEs within teams at the Ministry, including regional front line staff, procurement staff supporting contract management and staff managing the relationships with providers. • Individuals at the Ministry may be working on a range of initiatives at any given time. Hours spent on each cannot easily be extracted.
