12426 (2026). Lemauga Lydia Sosene to the Minister of Internal Affairs: What does the classification of Fire and Emergency New Zealand as a critical customer mean in terms of fuel supply for Fire and Emergency New Zealand under National Fuel Plan phases 2, 3 and 4?

Hon Brooke van Velden: I am advised that detail on how fuel supply is prioritised across National Fuel Plan phases is set out in the Government’s Fuel Response Framework. As a life supporting service and critical customer, Fire and Emergency New Zealand will work within that framework to maintain emergency response capability, with fuel prioritised for critical and life-safety activities in line with all-of-government settings.
