12422 (2024). Hon Barbara Edmonds to the Minister of Commerce and Consumer Affairs: For each of the new policy initiatives in the Minister’s responsible Vote for Budget 2023, if any, how many, if any, Full Time Equivalents are currently working on these initiatives, broken down by individual initiative?
Hon Andrew Bayly: It is important to note that some MBIE staff support multiple portfolios, and that portfolios are also often supported by other business units and enabling functions. For their Briefings to Incoming Ministers, MBIE conducted a one-off manual exercise to calculate the staff working in operational and policy areas by portfolio.
For Crown Entities within the portfolio who have staff allocated by initiative, the information is as follows:
For the Commerce Commission, the current Full-Time Equivalents (FTEs) directly attributable to the initiatives announced in Budget 2023 are:
Fuel Regulatory Backstop Implementation: 0.2 FTEs
Grocery Industry Competition - Regulatory Regime: 24.5 FTEs
These figures do not include the resourcing of support functions such as finance.
