12383 (2026). Ingrid Leary to the Associate Minister of Health: Was there any extra funding allocated to support the Dementia Mate Wareware Action Plan 2026-2031; if not, how will these actions be supported to progress, if at all?

Hon Casey Costello: I am advised that the Dementia Mate Wareware Action Plan 2026–2031 was developed by the four lead dementia sector organisations — Alzheimer’s New Zealand, Dementia New Zealand, the New Zealand Dementia Foundation, and the Mate Wareware Advisory Rōpū — with input and support from the wider dementia sector. I am further advised that actions outlined in the Dementia Mate Wareware Action Plan 2026–2031 will be supported through existing programmes of work and ongoing system initiatives, including work already underway to improve dementia services, post diagnostic support, navigation, respite care, and workforce capability.
