12368 (2026). Lan Pham to the Minister of Agriculture: Where does New Zealand source its nitrogen fertiliser from?

Hon Todd McClay: I am advised New Zealand’s nitrogen fertiliser is sourced both domestically and internationally. Around a third of New Zealand’s urea demand is sourced from the Kapuni urea plant in Taranaki. Of New Zealand’s imported urea, approximately 60 percent is imported from markets outside of the Middle East.
