12320 (2024). Hon Barbara Edmonds to the Minister for Sport and Recreation: For each of the new policy initiatives in the Minister’s responsible Vote for Budget 2023, if any, how many, if any, Full Time Equivalents are currently working on these initiatives, broken down by individual initiative?

Hon Chris Bishop: The Budget 2022 and 2023 funding relates to the establishment of the new Integrity Sport and Recreation Commission (Commission) which will commence operations on 1 July 2024. There are 5 FTEs funded through the Budget 2022 and Budget 2023 initiatives currently working on the establishment of the Commission. Budget 2022 and 2023 funding has also been used for contracts for services in specific areas such as communications, service design, technical writing, learning and development, programme management and administrative support (amounting to around 5.4 full time equivalent personnel at this time), supporting the work of setting up the new entity in 2022/2023 and 2023/24. Drug Free Sport NZ staff (except for the chief executive) of 23.55 FTE will become staff of the Commission on 1 July 2024. From 1 July 2024, Budget 2023 funds new activities of the Commission, as well as cost pressures of DFSNZ that had been funded through the Sport Recovery Package for three years to 30 June 2024. The baseline funding for Sports Anti-doping services will transfer to the Commission to cover the core costs of anti-doping services.
