12314 (2026). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: Will he increase the National Travel Assistance Scheme's reimbursement rates for travel given recent fuel price increases?

Hon Simeon Brown: Ensuring access to healthcare services for patients is a priority. That's why the mileage rate for people using private vehicles under the National Travel Assistance scheme has been temporarily increased by 30% since 2 April 2026 to help offset rising fuel costs. The National Travel Assistance scheme also includes full reimbursement for flights and accommodation for eligible patients.
