Hon Andrew Bayly: I am advised that the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment does not currently track staff numbers in this way. Some MBIE staff support multiple portfolios and that portfolios are also often supported by other business units and enabling functions to support their work. For their Briefings to Incoming Ministers, MBIE undertook a one-off manual exercise to calculate staff working in the operational and policy areas by portfolio. For Crown Entities within my portfolio who do have staff allocated by initiative, please find the information below: The Financial Markets Authority (FMA) has several initiatives as part of Budget 2022. For Climate-related Disclosures, the FMA has allocated 6.25 Full-Time Equivalents (FTEs). For the Conduct of Financial Institutions, the FMA has allocated 33.8 FTEs. The Commerce Commission's current FTEs directly attributable to initiatives announced in Budget 2022 are as follows: The Retail Payment System Regulation initiative has 16.5 FTEs. The Three Waters Reform Drawdown 5 for Economic Regulation Funding has 0 FTEs, although the Commission is contributing to policy development led by the Department of Internal Affairs (DIA) and the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) specifically related to economic regulation for Local Water Done Well. The Enforcement of Dairy Sector Regulation and Monitoring of Milk Price Setting initiative has 2 FTEs. These figures exclude the resourcing of support functions such as finance.
