Teanau Tuiono to the Minister of Foreign Affairs: What advice reports, briefings, aides-memoire, or any other documents, if any, has the Minister or any member of their Office received or sent that informed the decision to abstain on the recent vote at the U.N General Assembly on the resolution to condemn the trafficking of enslaved Africans and the transatlantic slave trade, listed by agency, title and date received?
Rt Hon Winston Peters: My office received an email from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade on 25 March 2026, the day of the vote in New York, advising of the proposed approach. My office sent a reply. The following day, the Ministry advised my office by email of the result of the vote.
