12161 (2026). Ricardo Menéndez March to the Minister for Social Development and Employment
Written Question
Published date: 16 Apr 2026
12161 (2026). Ricardo Menéndez March to the Minister for Social Development and Employment: How many, if any, of the people who received the Supported Living Payment at the end of September 2025 had dependent children and received their benefit abated due to other income?
Hon Louise Upston: I refer the Member to the attached table, which provides the number of working age clients receiving Supported Living Payment, Sole Parent Support and Jobseeker Support with children included in their benefit as at the end of September 2025.
I am advised by the Ministry of Social Development that information relating to income abatement is not centrally collated and would be on individual client files. Providing the Member with income abatement information would require substantial collation and engagement and divert Ministry staff from their core duties. In accordance with Speaker’s Ruling 210/6, that the time, and hence the expense, of answering the Member’s question is not in the public interest.
This is also my response to written parliamentary questions 12162 and 12163 (2026).
