12157 (2026). Scott Willis to the Minister for Energy: What has been the total expenditure to date, if anything, on anything to do with the Energy Competition Taskforce since its inception, broken down by the most detailed available summary of what this expenditure went towards?
Hon Simeon Brown: I am advised that the Energy Competition Task Force is a vehicle for collaboration between the Electricity Authority and the Commerce Commission with MBIE as an observer.
To date the Electricity Authority has led 8 initiatives within the Task Force work programme. The total external spend across those initiatives is $1.879 million, broken down in the attached table.
This total does not reflect internal costs, such as staff time.
I do not hold information about expenditure by the Commerce Commission, which falls within the Commerce and Consumer Affairs portfolio.
