12093 (2026). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: Do public hospitals hold fuel reserves to maintain operations during a fuel supply disruption, if so what type of fuel and how many days of reserves does each hold?
Hon Simeon Brown: I am advised that some hospitals have onsite storage tanks which primarily supply generators during power outages, and boilers if their primary fuel supply, predominantly gas, is lost. I am further advised that public hospitals are considered critical customers in the national fuel plan, with the right to access priority supply at nominated sites for the purpose of continuing essential functions.
