12053 (2026). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister of Health: What is the most recent restructure, if any, to take place in the Minister’s departments, agencies, crown entities and any other bodies that the Minister is responsible for, if any, and how many roles were affected, if any?
Hon Simeon Brown: I am advised the Ministry of Health commenced a phased organisational change programme in December 2025, which remains underway and is being implemented in two stages across multiple groups. Phase 1, covering the Public Health Agency and Strategy & Policy Group, concluded on 6 April 2026, with the new structure stood up. 45 roles were disestablished (some of which were vacant) and 32 new roles were established in this phase. Phase 2, covering the Corporate Services and Performance and Governance Groups, is currently in the consultation phase and is expected to be completed by early July 2026. For information on Health New Zealand most recent restructure, I refer the Member to page 37, Question 45 of the Health Select Committee Questionnaire 2024/25: www3.parliament.nz/resource/en-NZ/54SCHEA_EVI_1c2fa691-cac3-4665-8553-08de2d604dc6_HEA41708/995d81f64d18d62fa8a58e8b676340bcda22ab55.
