12046 (2026). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister for Universities: Since 27 November 2023, what persons, if any, have been appointed to a board role position that wasn't on a shortlist provided to you as responsible Minister?

Hon Dr Shane Reti: All Ministerial appointments I am responsible for as Minister for Universities go through a standard process facilitated by the Tertiary Education Commission. This includes seeking nominations from a range of sources, shortlisting, and consulting Ministers on proposed appointments via the Cabinet Appointments and Honours Committee process before they are confirmed. All appointments I have made in my capacity as Minister for Universities since 27 November 2023 have followed this process, and I have not appointed any persons who were not provided to me on a shortlist of candidates.
