12045 (2026). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister for Tertiary Education: What is the most recent restructure, if any, to take place in the Minister’s departments, agencies, crown entities and any other bodies that the Minister is responsible for, if any, and how many roles were affected, if any?

Hon Penny Simmonds: There were two small team restructures undertaken at Tertiary Education Commission since 1 July 2025 fiscal savings restructure: 1. Customer Contact Group – The vacant Team Manager Operational Support role was disestablished, with its functions merged into the Team Manager Relationship Support role. The Operational Support role was originally established to support a significantly larger Customer Contact Group; however, following the transfer of Fees Free to Inland Revenue, the group is now smaller. Functions have been redistributed across the wider team and integrated as Genesys-related work is now business as usual, alongside the establishment of a new Product Owner role. This change did not result in any job losses. 2. Data & Digital Development Group –The change process separated the Analytics function into two specialised teams: 1. Business Intelligence Team – Responsible for existing Qlik BAU, Power BI development and transition, reporting governance, and supporting business units with the delivery of insights. 2. Data Science Team – Focused on predictive modelling and advanced analytics. This change did not result in any job losses.
