12031 (2026). Francisco Hernandez to the Prime Minister: Since 27 November 2023, what persons, if any, have been appointed to a board role position that wasn't on a shortlist provided to you as responsible Minister?

Rt Hon Christopher Luxon: In my capacity as the Prime Minister, I am the responsible minister for the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet (DPMC). I confirm that in my capacity as Prime Minister, appointments either I approved or recommended to the Governor-General were selected from potential short-listed candidates. I am advised that appointment processes carried out by officials were in accordance with relevant legislation, consulted on at Cabinet Appointments and Honours Committee and confirmed by Cabinet or in accordance with the Public Service Commission guidelines.
