12000 (2026). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister of Internal Affairs: What is the most recent restructure, if any, to take place in the Minister’s departments, agencies, crown entities and any other bodies that the Minister is responsible for, if any, and how many roles were affected, if any?
Hon Brooke van Velden: Department of Internal Affairs: I am advised by the Department of Internal Affairs that their most recent restructure was the Fiscal Sustainability Phase 2 change programme undertaken in the 2025/26 financial year. This change process impacted 429 jobs, of which 112 jobs were disestablished, 317 jobs had minor changes. 119 new jobs were established. There were 44 redundancies. Film Classification Office: The Classification Office last ran a change programme in 2017/18; no roles were affected. Fire and Emergency: I am advised by Fire and Emergency that their most recent restructure was the Phase 1 Realignment of functions to align and support the delivery of its Strategic Direction 2025 - 2030. This change process impacted 32 roles, of which 11 were significantly changed or disestablished, three were reconfirmed, and 18 roles had a change in reporting line. Six new roles were established. There were two redundancies. Lotto NZ: The most recent restructure at Lotto New Zealand was undertaken in 2026 it was relatively small and occurred within administrative and executive support roles across the organisation. • Three roles were disestablished, one of which was vacant at the time the change was confirmed. Two new roles were created, resulting in a net reduction of one role. • Four existing adjacent roles continued, with minor changes to reporting lines and/or the number of direct reports. Lotto New Zealand has not recently undertaken an organisation wide restructure.
