11989 (2026). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister of Foreign Affairs: Since 27 November 2023, what persons, if any, have been appointed to a board role position that wasn't on a shortlist provided to you as responsible Minister?

Rt Hon Winston Peters: For the Asia New Zealand Foundation and the Public Advisory Committee on Disarmament and Arms Control all successful board appointees where part of the provided shortlist. For Antarctica New Zealand, there were three Board appointments during the period that were not drawn from a shortlist presented to me as responsible Minister: Leon Grice (appointed 26 Feb 2024), Neville Harris (appointed 15 Apr 2024), and Keiran Horne (appointed 29 Jul 2024). The Crown Entities Act requires the responsible Minister to appoint or recommend only those who, in the Minister’s opinion, have the appropriate experience to assist the entity to achieve its objectives and perform its functions. There are no additional appointment requirements in Antarctica New Zealand’s establishing legislation.
