11988 (2026). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister of Foreign Affairs: What is the most recent restructure, if any, to take place in the Minister’s departments, agencies, crown entities and any other bodies that the Minister is responsible for, if any, and how many roles were affected, if any?
Rt Hon Winston Peters: I am advised the most recent restructure within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade was the operating model review of the Pacific and Development Group. As part of this restructure, 54 new positions were established, 65 positions were disestablished, and 203 positions were modified. Of the modified positions, 85 involved a change in reporting line, with other modifications including changes to position titles or teams/units. For the Asia New Zealand Foundation, the most recent restructure occurred in 2024. This involved the establishment of a Director Operations role, and some role titles were amended to improve clarity. No roles were disestablished as a result of this restructure. The most recent restructure of Antarctica New Zealand was in July 2025. The restructure saw seven roles disestablished and four roles established. It also ended a fixed term contract.
