Debbie Ngarewa-Packer to the Associate Minister for Energy: What modelling, if any, did the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment undertake before announcing harmonisation of fuel specifications with Australia, specifically regarding how many additional fuel shipments this change was expected to unlock given that Australia is currently experiencing cancelled and deferred fuel deliveries?

Hon Shane Jones: MBIE did not do any modelling as it is not possible to specifically quantify the impact using modelling. The main benefit is to increase optionality for fuel importers at minimal cost and risk.
