11804 (2026). Dr Lawrence Xu-Nan to the Minister of Education: In response to Reply 9089 (2026), what are the provisions in place for movements of fuel costs in relation to School Transport contracts?

Hon Erica Stanford: I am advised by the Ministry of Education that the New Zealand Transport Agency’s diesel bus index data and processes are used to calculate adjustments for transport cost fluctuations. The index considers changes in fuel, labour, Road User Charges, and other transport related input costs.
