11788 (2026). Hon Kieran McAnulty to the Associate Minister of Housing: Has the Ministry of Social Development implemented any systematic peer review of emergency housing decline decisions; if not, when does he expect officials to advise him on options for doing so, given MSD indicated to the Auditor-General that it was "considering options to further strengthen the oversight of emergency housing declines"?
Hon Tama Potaka: The Ministry of Social Development has not implemented systematic peer review process for all Emergency Housing decline decisions. Existing assurance mechanisms are in place including management review of declines for families with dependent children and other vulnerable clients. Officials are considering options to further strengthen oversight arrangements and will provide advice to me in due course; no specific date has been set for that advice.
