Camilla Belich to the Prime Minister: What specific roles, by title and unit, were disestablished at the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet in the year to 31 December 2025, broken down by the date of disestablishment, any redundancy costs, and the number of functions that have since been transferred to another agency or contracted to external providers, if any?

Rt Hon Christopher Luxon: In my capacity as the Prime Minister, I am the responsible minister for the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet (DPMC). The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) was a departmental agency hosted by DPMC until 25 September 2025. The Cyclone Recovery Chief Executive was a functional Chief Executive appointed under the Public Service Act 2020 in March 2023 and disestablished with effect from 1 July 2025. Responsibility for central government oversight of the completion of the remaining cyclone recovery activity was transferred to the Department of Internal Affairs (DIA) with effect from 1 July 2025. DPMC continues to hold responsibility for administration of the Severe Weather Emergency Recovery Legislation Act 2023. The hosting responsibility for NEMA was transferred to DIA with effect from 25 September 2025. I also refer the member to my response to Written Parliamentary Question 11765 (2026).
