11758 (2026). Camilla Belich to the Minister of Conservation: Of the roles added at the Department of Conservation in the year to 31 December 2025, if any, how many are funded beyond 30 June 2026, and what is the estimated cost of disestablishing those that are not?

Hon Tama Potaka: I am advised that the Department of Conservation’s internal budgets for the 2026/27 financial year have not yet been confirmed. In accordance with standard Departmental practice, once these have been confirmed, all budget holders will review their personnel budgets and fund roles according to organisational priorities, so the Department cannot provide the information requested. However, I am further advised that ongoing financial sustainability is considered when any position is established.
