11661 (2025). Teanau Tuiono to the Minister of Foreign Affairs: What advice, reports, briefings, analysis, aides-memoire, or any other documents, if any, has the Minister or any member of their Office seen about the Deep Sea Minerals Informal Working Group (DSM-IWG)?

Rt Hon Winston Peters: This office was copied into two Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade authored Formal Messages, titled: FORMAL MESSAGE: PACIFIC TO HOLD FIRST REGIONAL TALANOA ON DIVISIVE ISSUE OF SEABED MINING (31 Jan) and, FORMAL MESSAGE: WITH HOPEFUL SOLIDARITY, TALANOA ASKS LEADERS TO EXPLORE A REGIONAL APPROACH TO DEEP SEA MINERALS (27 Feb). During preparation for the Talanoa, the Office was also provided with a copy of the Talanoa meeting brief. Each of these communications contained references to the DSM-IWG.
