Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: What progress, if any, has been made in the quarter October – December 2023 to ‘Increase the disability leadership capacity in the design and development of health services’ under section 4.3 ‘Health of Tāngata whaikaha | Disabled people’ within Te Whatu Ora’s Te Pae Tata: Interim New Zealand Health Plan 2022?

Hon Dr Shane Reti: I am advised that during the October - December 2023 quarter, Health New Zealand's disability leadership capacity increased through the establishment of Disability Leadership roles within numerous internal teams, such as Hospital and Specialist Services; Commissioning; Public Health; and Consumer Whānau Voices teams. These lead roles work closely with the Disability Strategy Team to ensure the organisation flies in formation with implementing the disability workplan.
