11568 (2024). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: What progress, if any, has been made in the quarter October – December 2023 to ‘Support Tāngata whaikaha | Disabled people in culturally-appropriate ways in Māori, Pacific and other community-specific health services ensuring they are led by Tāngata whaikaha | Disabled people from those communities’ under section 4.3 ‘Health of Tāngata whaikaha | Disabled people’ within Te Whatu Ora’s Te Pae Tata: Interim New Zealand Health Plan 2022?
Hon Dr Shane Reti: I am advised that during the October - December 2023 quarter, Health New Zealand, Te Aka Whai Ora, and the Pacific Directorate met to discuss how community-specific health services could be led by Tāngata whaikaha | Disabled people from those communities. Those discussions covered establishing a proposed Disability Intelligence role; creating a data gathering mechanism; workforce planning, and the Health of Disabled People’s Strategy.
