11534 (2024). Kahurangi Carter to the Minister for the Environment: What advice, briefings, documents or any other material, if any, has the Minister received from the Environmental Protection Authority regarding the ‘call in’ of waste to energy applications?

Hon Penny Simmonds: I received advice from the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) in relation to two waste to energy proposals, the Waimate and Te Awamutu waste to energy plants. In accordance with section 142(4) of the Resource Management Act 1991, I sought advice from the EPA, on whether these applications meet the criteria of a proposal of national significance.
