Rt Hon Christopher Luxon: My government is taking a range of steps to protect our frontline Police services, including: • Increasing the number of frontline Police by 500. • Providing significantly more funding for a Police pay offer than the previous government. • Providing Police with new tools to help them effectively combat gangs and illegal firearms. • Removing the previous Government’s target of reducing the prison population by 30 percent. • Taking steps to ensure there are appropriate consequences for crime through the reintroduction of Three Strikes and further changes to sentencing legislation.
